Elizabeth E. Taylor

Elizabeth E. Taylor assumed the role of Visiting Professor of Music Education at the University of Southern Mississippi in August 2018. Prior to this appointment, Professor Taylor spent the last two years earning credits towards the degree Doctorate of Musical Arts in Instrumental Conducting at Southern Mississippi. Before pursuing her doctoral degree, Professor Taylor served as Director of Bands and Associate Professor of Music at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia for five years.  At Shorter, Professor Taylor conducted the Symphonic Winds, The Net-Result Pep Band, the Hill-Top Jazz Band and was director and drill designer for the Shorter University Marching Hawks.  Additionally, her teaching responsibilities included Instrumental Conducting, Instrumental Methods and Pedagogy courses and the supervision of student teachers. 

Prior to teaching at Shorter, Professor Taylor spent twenty-four years in the Georgia public school setting as a Director of Bands, teaching grade levels 5 - 12. She received her Master of Music Education from Northeast Louisiana University and her Bachelor of Music from Georgia Southern University.  She currently holds professional membership with College Band Directors National Association, National Band Association, Georgia Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Educators, Phi Beta Mu, Pi Kappa Lambda, Sigma Alpha Iota, and Women Band Directors International.
